Instructions for entering information in the seminar schedule. |

Before you will start, you need to register. If you already registered, proceed with following steps. 1. Click on the "Edit seminar" link at the bottom of the Neuro 690 seminar schedule. 2. Enter your user name and password and click "Submit" button to enter the editing form. Once there, open your seminar by clicking on its date. 3. Type or paste the required information in the corresponding form fields. Hints: Before you will begin the data entry, use your browser to locate (if available) the following items (keep each item open in a separate browser window): - The selected paper in the PubMed - The selected paper in the Science Citation Index - The web page of the first author - The web page of the senior author - The web page with other information relevant to the paper - Locate on the internet, if available, the PDF copy of the paper and store it on your PC. 4. Copy the paper reference from the PubMed page and paste the information into the "reference" field. 5. To make the paper title bold, type: <b> just before the start of the title and </b> at the end ( text formated like this: <b> This is the paper title </b> will appear like this: This is the paper title . 6. Type your name in the "presenter" field. 7. Copy the URL from the address bar (starts with http://) of the corresponding browser window, and paste this into the corresponding form field. CAUTION: This instruction does not apply to the ISI link, for the correct procedure see 8 below. 8. A part of the ISI link is already present in the form. To make it functional, you have to enter the value of the UT parameter. To find this value, activate the previously located page with the ISI information about the paper. Right click on a white background of the ISI page, and select the "View source" to display the HTML code of the page. In the top third of the source code locate a line that looks like this: <INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME=UT VALUE=000186873700012>. (the number at the end will vary). Once you locate the the UT input value, copy the digits that follow the expression "value= ", and paste this number at the end of text in the "ISI link" field of the form. 9. Enter the name of the PDF file in the form and e-mail the file as an attachment to Dr. Bracha (vbracha@iastate.edu). NOTE: the file name of the PDF file should not contain spaces! 10. Do not have apostrophes (for example, Parkinson's) in the data you enter. 11. Submit the form. 12. Check the appearance of your entry and also the functionality of all links. The PDF link will become functional after Dr. Bracha will store the file you supplied at the neuroscience server. If you will find mistakes in your entry, use steps 1-3 to enter the editing area. |
